Adam Lee has served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Richmond Division since January 2014 and is charged with the investigation of allegations of federal crimes across most of the Commonwealth of Virginia. His office investigates a wide range of violations of federal law, with a focus on corruption offenses committed by elected and appointed officials across the spectrum of govern-ment, the most egregious hate crimes and other offenses which infringe on protected liberties held by all Ameri-cans and the dismantling of significant criminal enter-prises. In addition, Mr. Lee leads efforts to mitigate and neutralize threats originating from terrorists, spies, and cyber adversaries attacking U.S. national security and economic interests and critical infrastructure. Prior to his time as the Special Agent in Charge of the Richmond Division, Mr. Lee served as Chief of the FBI’s Public Cor-ruption and Civil Rights Section, leading the FBI’s two highest priority criminal investigative national programs and overseeing the FBI’s global Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Antitrust investigative programs. 

Upon entering on duty as a Special Agent in 1996, Mr. Lee primarily investi-gated public corrup-tion and white collar crime in the FBI’s San Diego Division while serving for seven years on the San Di-ego Division’s SWAT team. He has served in significant posi-tions throughout his career, both at FBI Headquarters and in the field. 

Prior to his FBI career, Mr. Lee served as a Senate Fellow in the State of Califor-nia where he successfully drafted legislation related to criminal procedure, international trade and finance, and veterans’ affairs. Mr. Lee is an attorney, licensed in the State of California. He is married to Melinda, and they have a son and twin daughters.
